Established in November of 2023, the Orchard Park Indoor Percussion Ensemble wishes to bring the excitement, musicality, and showmanship of “Percussion Theatre” to the Orchard Park School District. The Orchard Park Indoor Percussion Ensemble’s 2024 show: Digital Love: The Music of Daft

 

PunkDaft Punk were a French electronic music duo formed in 1993 in Paris by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. The duo has garnered critical acclaim as well as worldwide commercial success and is regarded as one of the most influential acts in electronic dance music history. In the public eye, Daft Punk assumed robot personas for appearances that included helmets, flashy outfits (sometimes with electronics incorporated), and gloves to disguise their identities. Daft Punk were known for their highly energetic live shows that incorporated lights and various special effects.

 

The Orchard Park Indoor Percussion Ensemble will be performing selections from the 2001 Daft Punk album, “Discovery”.

Selections include: “One More Time”, “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”, “Digital Love”, and opening the show, the song “Technologic” from their 2005 album “Human After All”.

 

Daft Punk had described the album “Discovery” as an attempt to reconnect with the playful, open-minded attitude associated with the discovery phase of childhood. The album was named one of the best albums of the decade by numerous publications, and in 2020, Rolling Stone included “Discovery" on its list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
